When looking to develop explainer videos, one of the most common expectations to manage is the duration of the video. Specifically, most businesses and individuals think they can get a lot more information into a short video than is realistically feasible.
A common rule of thumb that I provide is the script word count to video duration formula and hopefully you will find it easy to understand and helpful. If you are going to hire a professional film crew and voiceover artist to do the narration, plan on about 30 seconds of video for each 75 words in your script. Use your text editors word count tool to determine how many words are in your script.
Then use the simple table or line chart to get a good approximation of how long your video will likely be.
